Shifting from recovering and insuring accidents to proactive prevention, Generali, a global leader in the insurance industry, called on us to co-design their first-ever physical product: AirSafe, a smart device monitoring the air quality in homes. Leveraging the power of IoT systems, we helped bridge the digital and physical realms to keep families safe, adding a dedicated app with an intuitive interface that changes color depending on the air quality to monitor CO, smoke, particles, gas leaks and more. Functioning also as an ambient light, its design was inspired by the twisting shape of the Generali headquarters in Milan.
Prototyping was an integral part of the process, allowing the Generali team to evaluate every single step of the process carefully with a real, tangible object.
For our latest collaboration with Vimar, our team of product designers introduced the Elvox Voxie line of intercoms flaunting minimalist silhouettes, ergonomic controls and an elegant matt white finish. With an essential and geometric aesthetic, the final result lends itself to any situation, whether retrofitting an older building, detailing a new one, or even modernizing the office. Facilitating a simple and straightforward installation, Voxie was made to update or renovate existing systems with ease, eliminating the need for new junction boxes with a direct application on the wall or flush-mounted box.
As part of over three decades of partnering with the global technology leader ABB, we defined the design strategy for the award-winning ABB Emax 2. Compared to other switches on the market at the time, the attention to its design – both in terms of ease of use for the users of the product, and when it comes to applying design to build a brand in the sector – sets ABB Emax series apart from the rest, having made it a benchmark for the entire sector.
Shaping the future of electric transportation grid
Partnering with ABB to tackle the new product category of charging units for electric vehicles, we started with an extensive research, then created a modular system for the charging units for public spaces and for domestic use. The domestic collection is made from injection mold plastic, while the line for public use is made from vandal-proof materials, with a form language that further discourages graffiti. Our CMF lab also explored possibilities for personalization, so different car producers can serve their clients with personalized charging units.
As part of a long partnership of innovation and brand guardianship in oral care, we partnered with Unilever to create Vertical Sensitive.
With it, we set out to design a toothbrush that simply and intuitively facilitates the correct brushing motion. The design of the Vertical Expert handle with its cylindrical 360° radial grip zone prompts the user to rotate the toothbrush between their fingers, facilitating the vertical toothbrush motion recommended by dentists. The bristles and the head design complete the impact.
Door entry systems have a long lifespan. They are permanent fixtures in the home that aren’t renewed every year, so the design needs to be timeless. The devices are located outdoors, with constantly changing weather, which places demands on the materials, too.
Characterised by minimal lines and rounded corners, Elvox Pixel Heavy door entry system stands out for its strength and robustness. The finishing is heavy, strong, scratch and vandal resistant and weatherproof. The design is modular, allowing for multiple uses.
The new generation of Beta screwdrivers and instruments, designed by Design Group Italia, features improved ergonomics and high quality, lasting materials. The handles are designed to optimize the movement, and to better fit the shape of the hand, enhancing both precision and control. The texture maximizes the grip and the power to exert during rotation is discharged in exactly the right area for maximum results.
