Beta, leader in the production of tools, instruments and equipment, chose our Product Design team to support the development of the new Morphos screwdriver range, highlighting the technological innovation provided by the introduction of a third material.
The project stems from a clear vision defined by Beta: to surpass the current Betamax and Betagrip lines by introducing a new product identity based on advanced ergonomics, material innovation, and superior performance.
Starting from an in-depth market analysis and a study of the needs of professional users, Beta identified the key functional drivers of the project, placing user needs at the center of the design process. The new screwdriver range was developed to embody the following practical features and functions:
Prototyping with Beta was an integral part of the process. Carving different handle geometries
allowed us to explore multiple ideas and to evaluate their performance first-hand.
The design of the new Beta Morphos screwdriver offers excellent grip even in the most demanding conditions, thanks to a combination of materials and textures designed for power, control, and precision.
The new design offers more torque transmission compared with previous models, thanks to its perfect fit between hand and handle. The introduction of the third inner material, conceived by Beta, allows a controlled deformation to give better grip and power.
It is in the core of the handle where the real innovation of the new Beta Morphos screwdrivers range sits. The new design features a softer inner material to improve ergonomics and power even further. Our team, in close collaboration with Beta, worked also on the Morphos’ pre-engineering phase to make it suitable for industrial production and compatible with available co-injection molding techniques, ensuring a clean and durable bond between the materials.
